Wesley and Stacey Campbell are leading a team of 80 on a Hero Holiday in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Activities include a “School of Mercy and Social Justice”, outreaches in slums and prisons, visits to orphanages, and a massive concert and “call to action” expected to draw 8000 people. Grand Opening
Last week marked the official opening of our new medical clinic at the Heroes of the Nation Children’s Home in Nyahururu, Kenya. This facility will care for the 400+ residents of our Home, and the surrounding community, saving significantly on medical care for our children and staff time in transporting sick children, and providing some income for the Home. Special thanks to John and Katherine Matthews and their friends and clients who contributed towards the cost of the clinic. John and his sons Caleb and Luke were on hand to cut the ribbon. |

Current construction includes another dormitory, more classrooms, and a kitchen/dining hall, and we are starting a small agricultural project with poultry, cows, beans, and corn – a small start towards self-sufficiency. Also towards that end we would like to buy acreage adjacent to our home ($7000.00). Our next construction project at HOTN will be housing for the staff. $12,000.00 will build a nice cottage for a teacher and his family. Progress on our Community Centre in Telpura, India
We are very pleased with the progress on the Community Centre in Telpura, India. This multi-purpose building will house classrooms, a medical clinic, community programs such as literacy, educational health seminars and VBS, and serve as a base for humanitarian aid and disaster relief efforts. Thank you to those who have contributed to this project. If you would like to learn more about this project, and/or contribute towards the completion of this building, click here. |

Exciting News – New Offices for Be A HERO International
Thanks to those in our Hero Prayer Network who prayed for new space for our Head Office in Canada after our current space was sold. Kelowna Christian Centre has offered to rent us space in one of their buildings – we will have a lot more room, including a kitchen and a meeting area. It really is everything we need and more. We are particularly happy that each office will have a window! Special thanks to Terry Scott, of the TSA Group, who has provided us with office space at a greatly reduced rate since we started. Our move is slated for October. The new address will be:
PO Box 25077 Mission Park
Kelowna, BC V1W 3Y5
Our phone number and email address will stay the same. If you would like to join the Hero Prayer Network, click here. |

Training Centre completed
in Gulu, Uganda
The Vocational Training Centre at the Village of Hope in Gulu, Uganda is now completed and training the young mothers, thanks to our Heroes! This facility was built to provide vocation training and literacy classes to the young women (“child mothers”) who have escaped or been rescued from slavery. Also on site are 25 African hut-style homes for the mothers and their children. We hope to double the amount of huts ($500.00 USD each) by year end. Update on Mozambique
Our Heroes generously responded to the crisis in Mozambique created by disastrous flooding which left thousands homeless. Be A HERO sent aid teams in March and April to distribute food and PUR water-purification packets. Your donations made the difference between life and death for several months while the refugees were dislocated in camps. Many, many lives were saved. The government has now relocated all of the refugees, providing them with plots of land to begin rebuilding their homes, their farms, and their lives. The UN has given them seed, and some of the initial plantings are beginning to be harvested. We have some of the PUR left, which will be used in the months to come, when the heavy seasonal rains inevitably contaminate the wells, as happens every year. To view photos of the relief efforts, click here. A heart-felt thanks to all the donors. |

DID YOU KNOW…
100% of all funds donated for Projects go entirely to the Project? Be A HERO does not keep any of it for administration. We are able to do this because we receive donations specifically designated for administration through our “Hero Partnership Program”. Since our inception in late 2003, Be A HERO has raised and sent out over $3,700,000.00 USD for building and operating children’s homes, refugee housing, schools, feeding programs, mercy missions, and other projects benefiting orphans and other children at risk, widows, and refugees. For a complete listing of our Projects, click here. If you would like to become a “Hero Partner”, enabling Be A HERO to develop and expand in our goal to save ONE MILLION Children, click here.
