Greetings to the mighty Hero Army!

Heroes for Today

Hats off to the primary school students at the Napa Valley Language Academy in Napa, California!  They had heard that some children do not have access to clean water, something we take for granted in North America, and asked us where they could help. We told them about our children’s home in Goma, Congo, where girls are hired to carry water to the home. These amazing young women are paid one dollar per day to make up to three, five-kilometre round trips carrying 100 pounds of water on their backs each trip. The children of Napa Valley, under the leadership of their Principal, Debbie Wallace, and Linda Cavelli held a benefit concert, where they sang songs, some in French, and gave a PowerPoint presentation. They raised $3000.00 – enough to build a water catchment system on site at the Children’s home, proving that even little children can be HEROES! If you are interested in learning more about Mamma Jeanne’s Children’s Home in Goma, or any of our other children’s homes, visit the Projects section of our website at www.beahero.org.

80 bedroom home

Exciting Progress!
Thanks to many generous donors, in particular Peter’s Creek Church in Alaska, we have completed a new 80-bed dorm at the Heroes of the Nation Children’s Home in Nyahururu, Kenya.  This means 80 more orphans have been taken into care – now safe and secure, receiving food, clothing, schooling, medical care and most of all LOVE!

Double the Sponsorships Month

Be A HERO is now sending almost $50,000.00 per month to our partner organizations through our Child Sponsorship Program! You’ve thought about it before – why not just do it? Sponsor a child today! Send us an email at info@beahero.org and say YES! I will feed an orphan! If you are already a sponsor (thank-you!), talk to your friends, your siblings, your co-workers and sign up one more sponsor. Imagine – by next month we could be sending $100,000.00 per month to feed orphans; caring for twice as many children! Saving lives, that what sponsorship does! Sponsorship starts at just over $1.00 per day ($33.00 per month). For complete details visit our website at www.beahero.org, choose the Get Involved tab.

Urgent Needs

Be A HERO has partnered with the Quebec organizations, We Are The Children (WATCH) and CECI to build homes for families in El Salvador. These families were victims of Hurricane Rita, losing not only lives and homes, but also their farms, and thus, their harvests, buried under tons of mud. When you are a sub-sistance farmer, in an impoverished region, this is a hopeless situation. CECI is contributing $725,000.00 to restore the agriculture in the region; Be A HERO plans to raise funds for the materials to construct homes. Only $5,000.00 will pay for the materials, the landowner will provide the labour, and CECI will provide project management to build a family of 7 a new home. Imagine it for a moment: a new home and a hand up to recovery for only $5,000.00. If you can contribute towards this project, email us at admin@beahero.org. We hope to get many families into homes and on their feet within the next few months.

Ongoing Project in Dominican Republic

Once again, Be A HERO is working with Absolute Hero, taking a group of young people to Dominican Republic to build housing for refugees from Haiti. Last year, we raised enough funds for 5 complete homes, and materials for others (see the photos at our website, www.beahero.org – choose the Photo Gallery tab). You can help by contributing towards the building materials for the homes that the students will build. Each home costs approximately $4000.00. These homes allow refugees to move from their “home” at the local garbage dump to a real village, and start a new life.

Introducing:  Hero Partnership Program

One of Be A HERO’s cornerstone policies is our commitment to send 100% of donations raised for projects directly to the field, keeping none for administration. Out of the funds raised through child sponsorship, only $3.00 per month is kept, to off-set our wiring fees, credit card charges, and other banking fees. Our administration, expansion, and development costs are funded by separate administration donations.  If you believe in the work that Be A HERO is doing across the globe to save orphans and other children at risk, why not consider investing in our Hero Partnership Program? Your monthly donation by cheque, credit card or automatic debit will allow us to help ever-increasing numbers of children. Any amount you wish to commit would benefit.  To become a Hero Partner, click here

Our goal is to raise 10,000 Heroes, and to save 1 million orphans!

Can we do it? Together, we can!
Job 29:11-16 says “Whoever heard me spoke well of me, and those who saw me commended me, because I rescued the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to assist him. The man who was dying blessed me; I made the widow’s heart sing. I put on righteousness as my clothing; justice was my robe and my turban. I was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame. I was a father to the needy”
Can this be said of you?

Be A HERO!
