Greetings to the mighty Hero Army!

It’s the time of year when we start to turn our thoughts to Christmas and the coming New Year. We would like to bring some Christmas joy to the thousands of children living in our orphanages.  Don’t know what to buy for that relative who has everything? Want to start a special family tradition? Dreading receiving yet another gadget or trinket that will gather dust? Tired of the meaningless gift exchange with your co-workers? Here are some alternatives:

Gift #1 – make a donation of any amount to the Be A HERO Children’s Christmas fund. We will send the funds to our children’s homes, where the Directors can choose something special for the children. If you would like to designate to a specific home, please enclose a note indicating the name or location of the home.

Gift #2 – sponsor a child (or another child). You won’t even miss the $33.00 per month, but it will literally save the life of an orphaned child, providing him or her with a home, food, clothing, love and care. $63.00 per month will contribute towards his or her schooling and medical care as well. Gift #3 – fund a micro-enterprise. $60.00 will purchase a rabbit project (one male rabbit, one female rabbit, and a hutch), providing responsibility and income to our older orphan boys.

Just mail your cheque, or phone us with your credit card number (by Dec 11th). Please attach a note stating which Gift option you’ve chosen, and provide us with your email address.

Take a few minutes to peruse our new website at www.beahero.org.  We’ve added some video clips and a whole lot more information. You can download our promo dvd and powerpoints from the “Tools” section, and see everywhere Be A HERO works. Choose the “About Us” tab, then click the “Worldwide – Where We Work” link.

News flash

Great news from our Heroes of the Nation Children’s Home in Nyahururu, Kenya! All eighth grade students are required to write a national examination to determine if they qualified to enter high school. Six of our students scored 600 out of 600 – 100%. Out of 149 schools in the region, our school is now ranked #10. Pretty amazing accomplishment for a school made up entirely of orphaned children!

Snapshot Statistics

To date, Be A HERO has sent out over $2.6 million to build children’s homes, schools, and other projects; and to house, feed, clothe, provide schooling and medical care for, and love to thousands of children! Way to go, HEROES!

Note: if you would like to make a gift to Be A HERO or to one of our projects, we must receive it before Dec. 22 in order to include it in your 2006 giving.

Upcoming Events

Eyes and Wings 2007 - Be A HERO is hosting Eyes and Wings 2007 Conference in Kelowna, BC Feb 21 to 24, 2007. Speakers will include Wesley and Stacey Campbell, Dr. Chuck Pierce, and Heidi Baker.  Heidi has been pouring out her life on behalf of the poor in Mozambique, where they care for over 2000 children.
