Hero Holiday Brazil August 2007 Report

Hero Holiday Brazil was an outstanding success, as almost 100 people traveled from North America to bless the poor of Sao Paulo and participate in Wesley and Stacey Campbell’s “School of Mercy and Social Justice”. The goal of the school was to provide a “hands-on” experience ministering to street children, youth in prison, orphans, and those in the slums. Here is a sample of responses from participants:

“I most enjoyed going to the slums and loving on the children who needed so much love and attention. This one little girl I was holding would not let go of me. I think she was scared that I was going to leave her. She has no shoes and her clothes were barely keeping her warm. My heart was so drawn to her I wished I could adopt her. Through such experience, I’ve gained a clear vision of what my calling is, which involves ministering to children - especially the poor and the abandoned.” -Rosie

“Looking into the eyes of the poor has also changed me. I want to put my faith to action and DO something for the poor when I am home. In Brazil I was able to visit the slums and see hope brought to peoples lives.” -Shawnella

“Being able to visit the slums of Sao Paulo touched my heart the most. I believe this trip has changed me and everyone should take a Hero Holiday!!” - Jessica

“I surely received so much more then I was able to give. I shall never forget the faces of the children, youth and adults that we met on the streets, in the orphanage, in the slums, and churches. I will never be the same. Thank you Be A Hero (Wesley and Stacey) for this opportunity to be part of your team.”
-Margaret

Another key part of the Hero Holiday Brazil 2007 was a massive youth concert held with Jason Upton. Over 7000 people were encouraged through music and speakers to be part of the solution to Brazil’s problems; to see Brazil fulfill its destiny.

Upcoming Hero Holidays will be announced on our website – check it in a couple of months for the 2008 trips. www.beahero.org

Progress in D.R. Congo:

Be A HERO is building a children’s village in Goma, for the 250 children being cared for by Mamma Jeanne while war still rages in the area. Soldiers recently ravaged our farm and stole 68 sacks of beans intended as food for these children. This photo shows the new school under construction. New Project in Gulu, Uganda:

In our last newsletter we showed you photos of the new Training Centre built for the Child-mothers (the young women who have either escaped or been rescued from captivity by the LRA). Now we would like to establish a Nursery School program, to care for the little ones while their mothers attend classes in the Training Centre. If you would like information on how to contribute to the new Nursery School click on this link: http://www.beahero.org/give.html

A big thank-you to all our HEROES!
